Recording & Conversation Notice

Important: When you participate in voice conversations, you understand that:

  • Other users can hear your voice in real-time
  • Platform functionality may involve processing of voice data
  • Other users may record conversations using their own devices (which we cannot control)
  • You should not share sensitive personal information in conversations

By using voice features, you consent to the processing of your voice data as described in this policy.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Operate and improve the Service
  • Enable community features and user matching
  • Verify identities and maintain platform safety
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Conduct content moderation using automated systems and AI
  • Comply with legal obligations and assist law enforcement
  • Conduct analytics, research, and product development
  • Market our services and communicate with users

4. Platform Content & Marketing Use

Public Nature of Platform

Most platform activity is visible to other users. You should not expect privacy in your posts, comments, or participation in public conversations.

Marketing Rights

You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use your content (including posts, comments, and anonymized conversation excerpts) in:

  • Marketing materials and social media
  • Press releases and media coverage
  • Investor presentations and business development
  • Platform improvement and AI training

Content licenses survive account deletion to the extent content remains on the platform or has been incorporated into marketing materials.

We may share information with:

6. Data Security

Our Security Measures

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Our liability relating to security incidents is governed by Terms of Service §12 (Limitation of Liability).

Security Limitations

  • Online services face inherent risks of unauthorized access or disclosure.
  • We continuously monitor and improve safeguards such as access controls, encryption in transit, and security logging.
  • If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you consistent with applicable law and take reasonable steps to mitigate the impact.

Reporting

If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us at privacy@weneedtotalk.com or report through in-app support.

7. Community Focus, Non-Discrimination & Gender Self-Identification

Our platform centers women's experiences and welcomes anyone who follows our rules. Gender is self-attested; we do not request documentation or medical information to prove gender. We do not verify or guarantee any user's gender. Misrepresenting identity to harass, infiltrate, or disrupt women-centered conversations is a conduct violation and may result in suspension.

7A. Identity Verification & Badges

To deter impersonation and abuse, we may offer identity or liveness verification (e.g., selfie match or ID check) that verifies personhood, not gender. Participation is optional, but certain host-controlled room features (e.g., "Verified accounts only" or "Women-badge required to speak") may require verification or self-attestation.

  • Women Badge: If you choose to self-attest "I identify as a woman," we may add a Women badge to your profile. We do not collect or store documentation of gender.
  • Data Use & Retention: If verification is used, we process images/IDs only for verification and fraud prevention. We do not use this data for marketing or model training. We delete biometric/ID data within the shorter of the purpose's completion or one year, unless a longer period is required by law.
  • Your Choice: You can withdraw badge participation at any time in Settings.

8. Data Retention

We retain information as long as reasonably necessary for:

  • Providing and improving our services
  • Complying with legal obligations
  • Resolving disputes and enforcing agreements
  • Maintaining platform safety and security

Post-deletion retention: Some information may persist in backups, cached systems, or as incorporated into platform improvements and marketing materials.

We may also retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to protect our legal rights.

9. Your Rights & Limitations

Data Subject Rights

Subject to legal requirements and operational limitations, you may request:

  • Access to your personal information

  • Deletion of certain information
